Most of the quotidian activity in Dereth is considered to take place behind the scenes, for example the "absence" of children. One of the exceptions is the presence of free range chickens in most Towns. During the spring season chicks also make an appearance.
As harmless and innocuous as chickens are, their antithesis finds form in the poultry god of death and retribution, Thunder Chicken, who has visited destruction on several towns on a few rare occasions and who can now be found in the Colosseum Arena (or a facsimile of the beast at least).
