Deru Trees are great trees found on Auberean, and one of the primary forces associated with The Light. Most of our knowledge of the Deru comes from the teachings of the Light Falatacot.

All the Deru can trace their ancestry to the First Tree, because they all were once twigs on its great trunk. It is said that the First Tree has seen the beginning of the world and that when the First Tree perishes, so will the world. Deru Trees are the antithesis of Old Ones

It is said the Deru were the first created by the Light and they drove the Living Dark below, allowing life to spread across the world. It is also prophesied the Deru will be the last to leave this world. They are the great keepers and protectors and love all the followers of the Light. In the Light Falatacot's belief of the Circle of Giving, the Deru are of the earth, the Gromnatross are of the air and the Falatacot exist in between.

The Blighted One, T'thuun, has slain the Deru Tree of Degar'Alesh that once protected Freebooter Isle. It also threatens the younger Trees of Marae Lassel
